I've been busy...

I've been busy restocking my little Etsy Store.  Many happy hours were spent in my workroom whirring away on the sewing machine with little Phoebe getting in the way, and sitting on things... like my chair...

Once I had finished, Mr Tara kindly obliged with a photo shoot, while I wafted about in all the things I had made.  It was lots of fun and quite a windy winters day so fringes were flying everywhere.  We were able to get some nice pictures between gusts of wind, fringe in place and all...

I like using old unloved clothing and giving it a second life.  This slip I hand dyed a soft blue...

I hope you enjoyed my little collection.  It is available online here.  There is more on the way, I'm so inspired right now.  Hope your week is a happy one!

Tribal Tuesday...

Tribal treasures - history and a story in every piece.  Some known, many imagined.  It's the shared energy of each piece that I love.  The way things get handed down and traded on... and on...

First up, a Kuchi piece from Pakistan that came to me via Latvia...  hanging on a Thai hilltribe piece of embroidery I bought when I was travelling in Thailand...
Metal cuff from China, Indian wooden beads from a friend's market stall, a henna stone from the garden on a Thai embroidery from my travels...
Indian ankle bangle which I wear as an armband in my more tribal moments....
Henna design by me, stone by mother nature...
Indian papier mache Ganesh with fetching earrings on a wall hanging bought by Mr Tara on one of our trips to India...
Wall hanging detail...
Indian cushions sit on a rug from Syria (from a cycle expedition we did many moons ago)...
Buddha...
Indian necklace (a gift from a lovely tribal goddess) on an Indian temple carving...
Amethyst geode from Byron Bay on a vintage doily...
Kuchi hair ornament on an Indian lassi cup beside a hand drawn card (by me) for Mr Tara's birthday...
Baby's embroidered hat from the hilltribes in Thailand...
Tribal tassel on an Indian Banjara tribal skirt...

Indian Toran in blue...
Indian cut-work on a Tree of Life wall hanging (a gift from a friend)...
Little Phoebe on the fancy seat... sitting on an Indonesian sarong beside Indian sequined cushions...
Happy Tribal Tuesday everyone!  I do hope your week is going well.

Henna days...

Here's a little about my working week.  I generally split my time between doing henna and working on products for my little store which you can find here.

I love my job!  I love meeting people and having them enjoy their time being pampered.  They tell me stories, make me laugh, and generally fill my day with way too much enjoyment that sometimes, I have to pinch myself... is this really "work"??!  I guess in contrast to my former working life in offices (which often left me feeling a little dull) my life now is filled with colour and smiles.

Being creative in the workplace makes my heart sing!  Here's a few pics of some of my days spent at my henna table...

One of the most popular designs...  (don't you LOVE the rings!)
Little glittery hearts for little girls!
 Another little one!

A customer and I doing a little posing...
A family full of henna...

I try all the designs out on myself before adding them to my portfolio (perks of the job huh?!)
Always sketching new ideas and exploring art beyond the henna cone...
A little bit of Nomadic Tara advertising...

And so, these are happy days...
