Phoebe's got the blues...

Our little Phoebe's had the blues the last couple of days...
Not her usual sweet self... aloof and looking all sad...scared to go outside (well she's not the most confident outdoors anyway)...
Of course she can't tell us what's wrong...
So we gave her plenty of "sit on our lap" time and looked for signs of our little fluffball's sweet nature to emerge...
Today is much better - she's snoozing in the sun after a big breakfast of something fishy from a can.
Who'd of thought cats could get the blues?

Time for Tea...

How's this for a colourful tea shop?  Every time I visit this store the colours, textures and the smell of all the different tea blends make me smile...
If you were buying one (which sadly I wasn't!), which one would you choose???  I would have gone pink... no wait... blue... oh I don't know, they're all pretty.

Pile upon pile of shiny cups and saucers...
Patterns and colours put together with wild abandon...
Makes this a very nice place to be...

Winter sunshine...

The winter sun is out, and flooding my table with light.  So I got the peacock feathers out...

Tibetan Chenrezig statue...

Saraswati, the Indian Goddess of music and the arts, an Indian woodblock and my henna design in ink on a river stone...

Indian woodblock...
A geode from our holiday in Byron Bay last month...

Amethyst geode on a vintage Indian sari in the most exquisite of peacock colours...
Happy Tuesday - enjoy the winter sun if you are in Melbourne!

Colour and candlelight...

Last night my henna buddy Shannon and her lovely man came over for dinner.  I dressed the house up in its candlelit finest since Shannon is my tribal sister from way back, and she always enjoys a bit of nutso effort in the decoration department...
Indian lanterns...

Goddess Tara...

Tara, Indian woodblocks, Tibetan Mala beads and one of my henna designs on a river stone...

Nomadic Tara henna candle burns long into the night...

Mr Tara built this entryway into our house (so clever!)...
Dinner table all set with vintage linens and Indian lanterns...
It turned a normal old Monday into something really fun and I even had my hand hennaed (such a treat for me since I'm always hennaing other people)....  I did the glitter one on Shannon's wrist with my new peacock coloured glitter...
I love this design by Shannon - so special!

Phoebe was all worn out from having people in the house - since she's a shelter cat she can be prone to being a scaredy cat when people come over - afterwards she collapsed in her blanket on the sofa and snoozed the night away...
Happy days at Nomadic Tara HQ...

Postcard from Byron #3

Byron Bay is all about the beaches.  Sunset was a nice time for a stroll...

Clarkes Beach during the day was busy with holiday makers...
I wish this were me... solitude on a paddleboard...
We visited our friends who live in Pottsville - what a stunning beach!!!  Hardly another person in sight - probably my favourite beach of all time (big call...!)
There I am, in my happy space...
drawing stuff as usual...
I wonder if any passers by thought...mmmm... who is this nomadic one?

Happy Friday everyone!

Postcard from Byron #2

Here is more from the gardens at Crystal Castle in Mullumbimby (great name right?! You really need to say it out loud... Mullumbimby...).  It is one of the prettiest, serene gardens I have ever seen.

I was so taken with all the tropical plants. It was lush compared to my twiggy garden in Melbourne which suffered so much over the hot summer we just had.  In Mullumbimby, which is high up in the rainforest, the plant colours were psychedelic.

Pink plants!  Oh yes, I liked those...
A beautifully adorned Laxmi statue, surrounded by lush greenery...
This tree was dripping with blooms...

Laxmi detail...

Ganesh...

It was wonderful to see such beautiful craftsmanship...
The bamboo grove provided some much needed shade, and people had declared their love on the stems....

More of those pink show-stoppers...
Nandi Bull...
Marigolds - one of my favourite flowers...

Even the lentil soup we had for lunch came with edible flowers...
I'd never eaten a flower before... it tasted like salad leaves...!
Beautiful blooms wherever I turned...
Purple berries!

Sitting serenely amongst it all was this statue of Buddha...
with a beautiful pink mosaic base...
and a rose quartz spiral...
What a joyful day.
